Thank you to Sweeney Signs
of Mechanicsburg for creating this
sign to post at the barn site.
Once empty, every post and beam of the structure was measured and tagged for easy reassembly later.
ABC 27 News was onsite to provide some coverage of the beginning of our project. https://www.abc27.com/digital-originals/getting-ready-to-move-the-fish-barn-whys-it-called-that/
Early visit to the barn site prior to demolition
A driveway was created to help keep volunteers and equipment out of the mud. Trees growing close to the structure were cut and years of trash and debris were cleared from inside the structure.
Special thanks to
Waggoner Construction of East Berlin
and Best Line Equipment of Mechanicsburg
for donating man lifts to simplify working
up high.
(Above) A load of siding ready to head to storage
(Below) Nearly 2 dozen volunteers showed up for our 2nd Saturday of work.
Crabtree, Rohrbaugh & Associates of Mechanicsburg brought their highly sophisticated drone to the site to take measurements to create blueprints for the historic barn to help obtain the building permit and assist in reconstructing the barn in 2023.
Many thanks to Depalma Construction of Dillsburg
for providing the manpower to remove the old metal roof
in less than two hours!
A skeleton remains awaiting good weather and a crane.
